The Cast

Writer and Director John Hamburg wanted to make a movie about a subject that he says “has never really been done before.”  And actors like Rudd and Segal watched a lot of buddy movies to make sure the bond between Peter Klavin and Sydney Fife was genuine.

Jaime Pressly is a pro at acting like a bitchy, borderline psychotic housewife.  Only this time, she does not live in a trailer; she lives in a very nice pad in the California burbs.  “I love playing strong women,” Pressly said.

And for every “strong woman” there is her a-hole husband.  Pressly’s character happens to be married to Barry described as a man with a “Jew-fro and a small penis”.  I guess I would be pretty pissed off too.  I like Favreau as a comedic actor, though.  Although his role isn’t going to bring any Iron Man bucks, he plays the uptight, sarcastic, douche bag husband as no one else could.

Newcomer Rashida Jones, you will know her from the TV hit The Office, is likable and seems the perfect match for her future husband.  Jones is adorable, but anyone could have played that role.  But I admit she really held her own against the heavyweights.  When someone asked Jones if she felt afraid she’d get “pigeon-holed” as a wholesome character.  Jones laughed and said that if getting pigeon-holed meant having to work with incredible talent like Judd, Segal, Favreau, and Pressly, then yeah, “that’s a great hole to be in.”
